Featuring over 70 works So Far is a comprehensive collection of collage works by the young Melbourne artist Minna Gilligan (b.1990).

Well known within social media circles as well as the vibrant Australian art scene Gilligan has already garnered considerable attention for her innovative body of work that exists within, and beyond, the confines of the contemporary art system. At home in both the gallery or the mediasphere of Instagram (where she has over 43 thousand followers) Gilligan’s unique combination of appropriated imagery, colourful impastos, and unselfconscious ability have made her one of the most talked about young artists in Australia today.

Although she works within various disciplines—painting, drawing, writing, performing with the band Pamela, or illustrating for Rookie Magazine (where she’s a regular contributor) it’s her collages that have provided the young Australian the most attention. Presented here for the first time, within a sequential format designed by the artist, this compendium pairs each collage with its corresponding color swatch. Starting off at pure red and ending with translucent pink So Far features the full assortment of Gilligan’s pop-image lexicon, laid-out within multicoloured, hand-drawn backgrounds of psychedelic splendor.

A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, Gilligan has held solo exhibitions at Daine Singer, Melbourne Art Fair, Spring 1883, West Space, TCB Art Inc, Rear View and Dudspace (Melbourne) and participated in group exhibitions at the National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne), National Galley of Australia (Canberra), Heide Museum of Art (Melbourne), Alt Space (New York), Space 15 Twenty (Los Angeles), PICA (Perth), Papermill ARI (Sydney). She is currently represented by Daine Singer Gallery in Melbourne, is a studio artist at Gertrude Contemporary, and teaches at Monash University.

So Far is Gilligan’s third artist book.
